I said in my blog post yesterday that one of my new year resolutions was to write every single day. Well it’s only December 31st and I’ve already started! I got up a little early before work and jotted down a scene that I thought up a few days ago. It felt really good to have achieved something before work had even started for the day. It feels good to write at all. I’ve spent so long saying ‘I’ll get round to it eventually.’ Writing that blog post yesterday seems to have given me the kick up the backside that I needed!
Speaking of work, I have found one other positive of my current job – management are aware that employees are going to make mistakes at first. It’s amazing how many employers don’t realise this! I know employers need employees who can hit the ground running, but in an unfamiliar workplace, do they really expect them to be perfect straight away? That’s why I’m thankful for my new job. I also got the greatest thing a customer has ever said to me today:
Me: “Would you like any party poppers for this evening?”
Customer: “No thanks, we’ll be spending this evening in a police station.”
That just made my entire day.
Once again, have a great new year. Don’t spend it in a police station!
